Peter Krüger he/him

Scientist & Founder

Zukunftscluster QVLS-iLabs

Peter studied Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Philosophy in Berlin, Innsbruck, Heidelberg and Paris. He became an expert on fundamental quantum physics through his research on quantum gases working with a number of prominent scientists including Nobel laureates. He was appointed full professor in 2007 at Nottingham and today heads the Department on quantum sensing at PTB. He now focuses on practical uses of quantum technologies, having been an integral part of the development of numerous collaborations and programs in this area. His current research focus is on ultra-sensitive magnetometry based on quantum sensing, where the tiniest electric currents can be measured to understand and monitor human brain activity or minute precursors of failure in electric vehicle batteries. Recently, Peter has added entrepreneurial endeavors to his portfolio and is about to found his second deep tech startup in the area of quantum sensing. His ambition is to utilize the amazing insights from studying quantum physics in the laboratory to address the big challenges of our time, selecting application cases from areas such as climate change and mental healthcare.
